Pulling the perfect shot of espresso is both an art and a science. It requires precision, practice, and the right equipment. Here at Backyard Coffee, we use high-end commercial espresso machines to ensure every drop counts. But what exactly goes into that golden crema?
The Golden Ratio
The standard ratio for a traditional espresso is 1:2. This means for every 1 gram of dry coffee, you aim for 2 grams of liquid espresso. Weighing your beans before grinding and weighing your shot as it pulls is the fastest way to improve your home brewing.
Temperature and Pressure
We supply commercial machines precisely because they maintain perfect temperature stability. A fluctuation of just a few degrees can turn a sweet, balanced shot into something incredibly sour or bitter. 9 bars of pressure and water at exactly 93°C is the sweet spot.
